I've been trying to grow out my hair for the past few months, so I hadn't really done much to it - and it was really starting to show. My ends were looking a little ragged and the color had really faded. So when I caught wind of Mixed Co. Salon, I set up an appointment STAT!

Llevo meses dejando crecer el pelo, así que no había tenido muchos recortes y ya se estaba notando demasiado. Tenía las puntas hechas un desastre y las mechas se habían desteñido. ¡Así que cuando me enteré de la peluquería Mixed Co. Salon, hice una cita enseguida!

 

EN Upon stepping inside, I was greeted with a warm smile and a hip space. The art on the walls make it feel more like an art gallery than a hair salon. And when I asked about the pieces, I was told that they change every few months to allow different local artists to showcase their work. The current exhibition is by Chicago native, L. Wynne Weber. (How cool is that!?)

ES Al entrar, me encontré con una sonrisa bienvenida y un espacio chulo. El arte en las paredes lo hace sentir más como una galería que un centro de estética. Y cuando comenté sobre las piezas, me dijeron que cambian después de unos meses para mostrar las obras de artistas locales. La exposición actual es de la chicaguense L. Wynne Weber. (Qué guay, ¿no?)

EN This River North gem was founded by recognized hair colorist, Patrick Ryan. And when I say recognized, I mean that his talent has landed him on the pages of publications like Vogue, InStyle and Allure as one of the country's top hair colorists! (I mean, no big deal!)  Patrick also founded Painted By Patrick, which has become a renowned hair painting technique. It's his own spin on balayage, which creates natural-looking, sun-kissed hair color.

ES Esta joya del barrio River North fue fundado por el colorista reconocido, Patrick Ryan. Y cuando digo que es reconocido, ¡quiero decir que publicaciones como Vogue, InStyle y Allure lo han nombrado como uno de los top coloristas del país! (Vamos, ¡casi nada!) Él también creó Painted By Patrick, una técnica renombrada de teñir el cabello. Es como la técnica balayage - que crea un color natural - pero con su propio toque.

EN I was lucky to get my tresses expertly trimmed and styled by stylist extraordinaire, John Mouzakis. While snipping away, he shared his world travels and had me feeling nostalgic for Europe. The time flew between stories of Taipei and Hong Kong and before I knew it, my hair was looking like a million bucks.

ES Tuve la suerte de recibir un recorte y peinado del estilista experto, John Mouzakis. Mientras me recortaba, me contó de sus viajes por el mundo. Entre sus historias de Taipei y Hong Kong, el tiempo voló. Y sin ni siquiera darme cuenta me transformó el cabello.
