Eataly is a foodie's dream come true. The 63,000 sq. ft. Italian market-restaurant-café opened its doors on December 2 and is the second Eataly location in the U.S. (the other in New York opened in 2010).

Eataly Chicago
offers its guests 23 eateries, one fine dining restaurant and thousands of products for sale. Included in the mix are butchers, fish mongers, a Lavazza coffee bar, a gelato stand and even a Nutella bar.

“The city of Chicago boasts such a great food culture; we are very excited about this new opening,” said founder Oscar Farinetti. Eataly was founded in 2007 in Turin, Italy and now includes 17 locations.

I must say that the visit to Eataly at 43 E. Ohio Street was a total shopping and Italian dining experience, but I found it to be a bit pricey. Despite the sticker shock, I thoroughly enjoyed the pasta, pizza, gelato, Barolo glass of wine and colorful aisles of goodies.
