While changing through stations as Black Friday sales commercials streamed over the radio waves, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ song “Thrift Shop” played and I was struck with one of those “aha” moments.

Instead of getting caught up in all of the Black Friday madness, I've decided to turn to other shopping venues to prep for holiday parties. With “twenty dollahs in my pocket,” I headed over to a Goodwill to rummage through second-hand treasures.

While there, I carefully looked through the aisles of multicolored racks.

Here’s a look at what I found.

Blazer (with shoulder pads): $3.99
Heels: $4.99
Men's shirt: $3.99
Velvet midi skirt: $3.99
I got all of this for UNDER $20! Now I can mix and match these finds with some of my trendier pieces and accessories for one-of-a-kind looks.

The best part of all is knowing that my recycled purchase is helping out the community by reducing waste and creating employment opportunities. When cleaning out your own closets, please consider donating to your local resale shop. Your trash can be another person's treasure!

P.S. That Gucci bag pictured above is also a secondhand item. I received it recently from a dear friend and keep it as a daily reminder of her love and generosity.
