EN When I moved back to Chicago in 2014, I sold my car and decided to get around the city via public transit and ride sharing. That worked pretty well for a while until the pandemic hit. Sure, I can still catch the bus or call for a ride share care to get to work, but I feel a lot less safe on those trips - especially when the CTA bus or train is jam packed.

ES Cuando volví a Chicago en el 2014, vendí mi coche y decidí moverme por la ciudad en transporte público y viajes compartidos. Eso me funcionó bastante bien hasta que llegó la pandemia. Claro, todavía puedo tomar el bus o pedir un Uber para llegar al trabajo, pero me siento mucho menos segura - especialmente cuando el bus está a tope de gente.

  INTERIOR

Mazda heard about my travel woes and lent me a fully loaded Mazda CX-30 Premium for a week. It was the best week EVER!  First thing's first. This SUV is an absolute stunner. I was totally won over by its sleek lines and strong features. And let me just say that the luxury look isn’t limited to the exterior. I was wowed by the leather interior, leather steering wheel, moonroof, heated front seats and Bose 12-speaker audio system. Bad Bunny never sounded better!

Mazda se enteró de mi problemillas con el transporte y me prestaron un Mazda CX-30 de gama alta por la semana. ¡Sin duda, fue la mejor semana! Antes de nada, este SUV es una maravilla. Me encantaron las líneas elegantes y características fuertes. Y déjame decirte que el look de lujo no termina con el exterior. Me impresionó el interior de cuero, volante de cuero, techo corredizo, asientos calentados y sistema de audio Bose con 12 bocinas. ¡Nunca se ha escuchado mejor a Bad Bunny!

 

 

SIZE | TAMAÑO

Now, let’s talk about the Mazda CX-30's size. It’s not too small, not too large. It's as Goldilocks would say, just the right size!   For most of us city dwellers, access to parking around town can be limited, so it’s a huge plus not to waste time circling city blocks for a large space. Despite it’s compact size, it’s still comfortable and roomy enough for my 6’2” boyfriend. I should add that it’s a lot easier to pick up and transport heavy pumpkins and groceries in this SUV than any city bus!

Ahora toca hablar del tamaño del Mazda CX-30. No es ni muy pequeño ni muy grande. Como diría Ricitos de Oro, es el tamaño ideal. Para muchos de nosotros que vivimos en la ciudad, acceso al aparcamiento siempre está limitado. Me viene bien no gastar el tiempo buscando un espacio grande. A pesar de su tamaño compacto, sigue siendo cómodo y espacioso - hasta para mi novio que mide 189 cm.  ¡Debo mencionar que también me facilita recoger y transportar calabazas pesados y la compra mucho mejor que cualquier autobús!

SAFETY | SEGURIDAD

I got into a fender bender two winters ago which left me with a little bit of driving anxiety. I mean, worrying about busy city traffic, crazy potholes and daredevil pedestrians is enough to make any driver nervous. Those worries melted away as I experienced all of the Mazda CX-30 Premium’s i-Activsense safety features. The first day I took out the car, it was stormy and visibility was low. As I left the office and started merging onto the expressway, the steering wheel vibrated, the car beeped and a flashing light on my sideview mirror flashed to alert me that I was attempting to merge into a car that was in my blindspot! I don’t think I can ever get a car without blind-spot monitoring or rear cross traffic assist. The next day was a bit foggy and the buzzing of the  lane departure assist helped me stay in my lane all the way to work. I was surprised one night when the high beams automatically turned on when I turned onto a dark street. I also really loved the windshield projected active driving display which allowed me to monitor the speedometer without looking down at the dashboard.

Hace dos inviernos, tuve un accidente pequeño que me dejó con un poco de ansiedad de conducir. Ya hay mucho de qué preocuparse cuando se trata de conducir en una ciudad grande - atasco, hoyos enormes, conductores locos y peatones temerarios. Esa preocupación desvanece con las características de seguridad i-Activesense. El primer día que saqué el vehículo estaba tempestuoso y no podía ver bien. Al salir de la ofi, iba juntándome en el carril para ir en la autopista cuando el volante empezó a vibrar,  me pitó el coche y apareció un luz intermitente en el retrovisor para avisarme que casi choqué con otro coche que estaba en mi punto ciego! Ahora nunca podré tener coche since aviso de puntos ciegos y asistencia de tráfico. El próximo día había neblina y sonó el aviso de salida del carril, que me ayudó en todo el camino al trabajo. Una noche que iba en el vehículo, me sorprendió ver que se encendieron solas las luces largas al meterme en una calle muy oscura. Y debo mencionar también que me encantó ver que el indicador de velocidad se reflejaba en el parabrisas.

 

I absolutely loved my week of riding around in this Mazda CX-30 Premium and was so sad when the time came to return the keys. I think that's a pretty good sign that I might have found my next car! Maybe a Christmas gift to myself!? 😉

Me encantó la semana con este Mazda CX-30 Premium y me dio mucha penita tener que devolver las llaves. Creo que eso indica que he encontrado mi próximo coche. ¿¡Quizás puede ser mi regalo de navidades!? 😉
