As I've aged, I've noticed a pretty big change in my skin health: excessive drying, flakiness and lots of redness. I'm sorry but those symptoms just won't do.
Despite trying out tons of different products, I couldn't seem to get relief. Out of sheer desperation, I once spent a mini fortune at the Pond's Institute at Madrid after being promised that it'd help hydrate and control redness. Over 600€ later, I was still showing the signs of sensitive skin but also broke and extremely frustrated. To regain some control over my complexion, I turned to the experts at ZSS skincare. After explaining my skin woes to ZSS President, Emily Frank, she challenged me to try out their Skincare Method No. 1 for Radiant Skin.
While trying out their skincare line, I asked them a few of my most pressing questions:

Me: What can women with redness do to help clear up their skin woes?
ZSS: ZSS Clear Skin Method offers an all-inclusive approach in the management of redness by addressing the root cause of many challenging skin conditions from the inside and out. The ingredients in the Clear Method, including probiotics and key ingredient Zeaxanthin which help soothe and manage chronic skin conditions like acne, psoriasis, rosacea, redness and irritations. Also, incorporating anti-inflammatory foods into your diet, such as salmon, almonds, cinnamon, and garlic, is a great way to calm irritated skin from the inside, out.
Me: What are some of the best ways to treat or care for sensitive skin?
ZSS: The best defense is avoiding any skincare and makeup products that contain irritating ingredients. The list ranges from alcohol and fragrance, both major offenders of drying out skin, to parabens, preservatives that have been shown to cause more serious skin issues like rosacea and dermatitis. Also, avoid using facial/body cleansers that contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), the harsh chemical responsible for creating foamy bubbles in soap products. Besides avoiding irritating ingredients, those with sensitive skin should also stay away from extreme water temperatures, aggressive exfoliants, and excessive sun exposure.
Me: The pores on my nose are raised (and feel a bit like sand paper). Is that simply a hydration problem?
ZSS: Raised, bumpy pores are due to clogging and blackheads, which are definitely exacerbated by dehydrated skin. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day helps keep the liver functioning properly so it can flush toxins from the body, resulting in less bacteria to cause skin inflammation. However, while drinking water is crucial for clear skin, you must also be sure to wash your face every day, especially before bed, to ensure the daily build-up of dirt and oil on your face is washed away. Otherwise, that bacteria will seep into your pores overnight and get trapped, causing blackheads.
Me: Does ZSS Skincare have any sun protection tips (or additional products)?
ZSS: Zeaxanthin, the antioxidant ZSS Skincare is based on, protects your body’s cells from dangerous free radicals and lessens the inflammatory response of sun-exposed skin. Ingesting foods naturally rich in Zeaxanthin, such as leafy greens like kale and swiss chard, and yellow and orange peppers, is a great way to internally defend yourself against harmful UV rays. As for your skin, apply a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher every single day, even on cloudy days, since that’s actually when the sun’s rays are the strongest.

When I started ZSS Skincare's 30-Day Challenge, my skin was super dry and the pores on my nose were raised. Yes, raised! My pores looked like bumps and my nose felt like sandpaper. Over the course of a month, I took the supplements, religiously applied the serum and drank more water. Although I did not see a dramatic change in those 30 days, I definitely noticed an improvement. My skin was smoother and brighter and those once spiky pores on my nose were starting to soften.

Encouraged by the improvement, I embarked on a second 30-Day Challenge and opted to try the Skincare Method No. 2 for Clear Skin. I'm glad I did because it's made all the difference. Yes, I still have some redness but it is SO much better than two months ago. And those pesky raised pores? They're no longer a problem. The skin on my nose is finally smooth again - which makes a world of difference when applying make-up. My make-up looks much more flawless and I don't need quite as much coverage as before.
Can I get a beauty Halleluja?! ZSS Skincare has answered my skin prayers and I'm excited to see how my skin's health will continue to show signs of improvement!
