I have a milestone birthday coming up next month. Most of my girlfriends who have been inducted into the 30 Club have all expressed some of their aging anxieties. 30 definitely sounds a hell of a lot older than 29, but I can't imagine that it'll actually FEEL any different.

Thanks to my stint in Madrid, I still feel like I have so much to look forward to, that my life is just beginning. My older European friends put a lot of things into perspective for me. They made me realize that we are all traveling down our own path, which means that we're meant to reach different "life checkpoints" at different times. Comparing ourselves to others can be very dangerous to our self-esteem and can even hinder our ability to reach our personal goals.

Now that I'm Stateside, I have to be mindful of the American culture and its high value on youth. Botox, anti-wrinkle creams and the like have all become the norm for women's anti-aging regimen. In case any birthday blues set in, I've put together a list of things that I'd like to experience in the coming year.

It's been a great journey so far. I can't wait to see what's to come!
