Rain is not welcome when I have plans to be outdoors! I guess the weather didn't get that memo because it's been coming down in buckets all day. To beat the somber grey skies, I've been ducking for cover under bright pink.

My work environment is pretty conservative but also casual. Today's outfit is about adding a little spice and personality to a look that would be otherwise a little unremarkable.

The zipper closure on the back of this blouse is an unexpected spin on a basic piece. It's fun to play with the opening to add some edge to a conservative look. The loose, relaxed top pairs well with everything from trousers to denim cutoffs.

Since these pleated vegan leather trousers have some volume around the hip, I like to make sure that I show off some of my waist to avoid looking bulky or sack-like. To get the look, I recommend pairing the trousers with a fitted top or simply tucking in a blouse or tee. I wanted to show off my waist and keep the look feeling relaxed, so I only tucked the front section of my top.

These patent leather penny loafers with printed faux calf hair are my comfy go-tos. They're usually my first choice whenever I need to pepper in a little bit of a print to solid outfits.

I say it all the time, but it never gets old: accessories are key to changing an outfit's vibe. I was going for a laid-back but put-together look with some attitude. This Rocksbox necklace totally helped me get there. The spikes offer some edge but remain polished by the lady-like jewel accents.
