As a young girl, I would watch as my mom expertly applied lipstick to the contours of her mouth and I remember looking forward to the day when I would do the same. The six-year-old me didn’t know a thing about womanhood or make-up, but she knew that there was something oh-so alluring and feminine about a colorful lip.

Alluring and feminine are just a few of the qualities that make lipstick a woman’s best friend. It’s my go-to beauty accessory and I’ll tell you why. In addition to lending out two of the previously used adjectives, it can also be transformative.
